Linda Rabben with Carol Daddazio: Journeywoman: A Writer’s Stories
About this Event
Linda Rabben launches her latest book, Journeywoman: A Writer's Stories, at The Ivy Bookshop! Journeywoman is both memoir and art book, a beautiful combination of writing and photography about an exciting and varied life.
The subject is Rabben's life as a writer, human rights activist and anthropologist, from childhood in Philadelphia to Through a Glass Darkly. It contains many stories about travels on four continents, courageous people who risked (sometimes lost) their lives defending human rights, her career in the gig economy, and excerpts from writings both published and unpublished.
Carol Daddazio, who helps to steward the Renaissance Institute at Notre Dame of Maryland University, will join Rabben in conversation. We'll be indoors on the main floor of The Ivy Bookshop as we celebrate this new volume.
Books will be available for sale at the event.
Author, anthropologist and human rights activist Linda Rabben did research in and on Brazil for more than 30 years, worked as a researcher for Amnesty International and coordinated a refugee assistance project for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service. Linda’s 13 published books include Sanctuary and Asylum: A Social and Political History; Fierce Legion of Friends: A History of Human Rights Campaigns and Campaigners; Through a Glass Darkly: The Social History of Stained Glass in Baltimore; and two poetry collections, Book of Changes and Seasons with Friends. She is an associate research professor of anthropology at the University of Maryland.
