In 1966, Joan Dominicis and her mother Stella opened a little shop that Stella thought was a “crazy” idea. Sixty years later, that idea has grown into a well-known and well-loved part of our community, thanks to a lot of family support, dedication, and all of you.
In the early days, Li’l Darling Shoppe was known for children’s clothing, christening and communion outfits, and even furniture, before finding its true expertise in school uniforms. Today, we proudly outfit students attending parochial schools throughout Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, and Putnam counties. Though the store has moved over the years, it has spent most of its life in our family-built home on Route 9 in Wappingers Falls, built in 1990.
Joan, who now runs the shop on her own since the passing of her brother and partner Phil Dominicis, has no plans to retire. She looks forward to many more years of working with local schools and students, and remains committed to excellent customer service, customer satisfaction, and high-quality goods.
