Light UP Bowen is an annual Christmas tradition that takes place on the Saturday before the BICS Christmas Fair. The event features a gathering on the boardwalk next to DOC MORGANS, where Cates Hill Chapel will present the Christmas Story with caroling. After Rondy Dike sounds his canon, the lights at the Union Steamship Marina and the Family Place Festival Trees will turn on, and Santa will join the event with his friends from the North Pole, including Rudolph, Frosty, Ginger, the Snow King & Queen, Snow Princesses, Sugarplum Princess, Toy Soldiers, Frozens' Elsa & Olaf, reindeer, and elves. Santa will greet children with candy canes and lead them to the Stage at the Hearth Gallery, where warm cider, mulled wine, and cookies will be served by local officials. There will be activities for children provided by Bowen Rec, and opportunities to wave to Santa and hand one of his elves a Christmas letter. This event has always been a fun evening, beloved by all Bowen Islanders and Bowen Island's kick off to Christmas!!!
