Join the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra for a fascinating evening where science and music meet. Presented by Boulder County, "Light in Rhythm: Fireflies & Music" features Dr. Orit Peleg of the University of Colorado Boulder and musicians from the Boulder Philharmonic in a program exploring the remarkable communication patterns of fireflies.
Dr. Peleg leads the Peleg Lab, an interdisciplinary research group studying how signals in nature create complex patterns across time and space. The research shows striking parallels with music—rhythm, repetition, and the way sound travels around us.
Throughout the evening, Dr. Peleg’s insights will be interwoven with live musical performances that reflect these ideas. The program includes music by Amy Beach, Connor Chee, Philip Glass, and Clarice Assad, along with a newly commissioned work by local composer Tessa Moore created especially for this event.
Guests can also enjoy a crafting station and look ahead to a community firefly viewing planned for June. Come explore the beautiful connections between nature, sound, and the patterns that bring them to life.
