Yoga Nidra means Yogic Sleep. It is a state of conscious Deep Sleep. In meditation, you remain in the waking state of consciousness, and gently focus the mind, while allowing thought patterns, emotions, sensations, and images to arise and go on. However, in Yoga Nidra, you leave the Waking state, go past the Dreaming state, and go to Deep Sleep, yet remain awake. It is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness. Yoga Nidra is far beyond just relaxation. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, sometimes it takes thousands of words to get the inner “aha” of the meaning.
This event will begin with body awareness to movement & breath. After settling into stillness in the comfort of a hammock or on your yoga mat, you will be guided into relaxation by a meditation of “a thousand words” through sound healing. Each event is cultivated around the time of a Full Moon.

NOTE: The studio has blankets and props, but feel free to bring anything (pillows, favorite blanket, eye mask) of your choice to allow yourself full comfort. It is known that in one Yoga Nidra session the deep rest sensation of three REM cycles is attainable.

**In yoga Nidra, the practitioner remains in a state of light withdrawal of the 5 senses (pratyahara) with four senses internalized, that is, withdrawn, and only hearing which is still connected to any instructions given. You have to slowdown to let go, to allow transformation within in pursuit of mindful self-healing.
