Lifelines: explore the beauty of branches, veins, and waterways

One of the most beautiful designs in nature is the branching behaviour that we see in trees, but is also found at the microscopic level in our brains, maps out our bodies in blood vessels, and can also been seen in aerial photographs and on maps in the networks of waterways and watersheds.

Using special image transfer film printed and supplied by the instructor, along with hand sanitizer gel (note: not suitable for anyone sensitive to isopropyl alcohol), we will make image transfers of branches onto washi paper to form the basis for mixed media explorations. Visual references of other branching examples will also be available, including photographs, maps and antique anatomical drawings.

All supplies including paint and washi will be supplied, but we ask you to please bring:

• a notebook and pen
• a couple of favourite drawing tools, if you wish
• a few paint pens, if you have
• an apron, or dress to get messy
• your lunch

About Kim-Lee Kho
Kim-Lee Kho is a multidisciplinary artist well-known for her obsession with veins, arteries, trees, anatomical hearts etc. An experienced and popular instructor, Kim has had to reduce her teaching commitments in recent years, so this is a special opportunity to work with her in-person.
