How NHS innovation - AI, genomics and tech - moves from ambition to practice, scaling impact for services, workforce and communities.
About this Event

‘Big bets’ are being placed on life sciences and new technologies to drive transformation across the NHS over the next decade as part of the 10 Year Health Plan. These include using AI to improve productivity and patient choice; genomics and predictive analysis; wearable technologies; robotics; and further investment in joined-up data.

These shifts are exciting but highly ambitious. Together, they promise significant change, but their impact depends on whether and how they are adopted and delivered in practice.

This conference focuses on that challenge exploring what it takes to embed innovation into everyday NHS services, and how to turn ambition into meaningful impact for people and communities.

It will bring together people from across health and care, industry, research and the voluntary sector to consider how these changes may transform health systems and society. We will explore the impact of developments such as a move towards population health genomics and new medicines on care pathways, workforce roles and models of delivery. Alongside this, the conference will ask who is shaping the future of health, and how far this will be driven by consumer expectations and behaviour.

Together we will explore:

  • What is needed to bridge the gap between ambition and reality, including whether we are focusing on the right bets and what may be missing
  • How to move beyond pilots to more consistent adoption, learn from what is working and put the infrastructure in place to support wider adoption
  • What we can learn from place-based approaches such as co-location, health innovation zones and campuses, considering how their benefits can be shared more consistently across the NHS rather than remaining concentrated in a small number of settings.
  • How these innovations are implemented in practice, and what they mean for people, communities, services, leaders and the wider workforce
  • How to work with people and communities to build trust and confidence in new technologies
  • The ethical, moral and practical questions raised by developments in areas such as genomics, AI and data‑driven care
  • The leadership, culture and workforce capabilities needed for the NHS to make the most of these changes
