You’re invited to the event of the season!
Join us for an evening of Regency merriment, dancing, daring and more at Lies & Liability: A Summer’s Ball.
We’ll engage in country dancing and perhaps some of the more exotic dances of the Regency era – wilder than Pride & Prejudice, but more historically accurate than Bridgerton – instructed by professional dance instructor and dance historian, Susan de Guardiola. These dances are fun to learn, and tailored to beginners! Anticipate to spent most of your evening dancing. Make the pleasing acquaintances of new friends through social dancing, where partners dance with everyone in their set at some point! Couples, singles, and friends are all very welcome.
This is an immersive event, but you need not play a character beyond picking a name for yourself. (Miss Smith, for example, or Lord Evermont) Of course, you’re welcome to play along as much as you like. There will be costumed actors who will roleplay with you as much (or as little!) as you please, and you can find out from them all the gossip of the Ton.
What to expect?
When taking a break between dancing sets, you can explore the beautiful historic Lord’s Park Pavilion’s deck, walk along the creek, or pause by the fountain. Plenty of beautiful photo opportunities will present themselves, and the event will have a professional photographer available. Partake in some light refreshments, like lemonade and cookies. A few local craftspeople may show off their best Regency themed wares and tea sets for your perusal, as well!
We encourage you to come in costume, but strict Regency attire is not required. We do expect at minimum long dresses, sharp attire (dress pants and shirt, etc.), and similar themes for the dandies among us.
