On Saturday 25 April 2026 at 11:00 an exhibition of works by Liekie Fouché will open at the Association of Arts Pretoria. Liekie is a Pretoria based artist who spent the formative years of her life on a farm in the North-Western province. The landscapes of her childhood as well as the feelings of isolation have profoundly influenced her work.
After studying fine art (BA Visual Arts) at the University of Pretoria she was the runner-up in the Sasol New Signatures art competition in 1992 and since then she had 18 solo exhibitions and took part in over a hundred group exhibitions. Her work can be seen in private collections all over the world. Currently she works from a tranquil and inspirational smallholding in Zwavelpoort towards the east of Pretoria.
'Between Worlds' features South African landscapes, cloudscapes, and dreamscapes that highlight connections between heaven and earth, exploring realms both visible and hidden. The depicted scenes linger at the intersections of dreams and reality, past and future, as well as nature and imagination. Travelers, wanderers, and drifters embarking on journeys through the breathtaking South African scenery invite viewers to escape the limitations of earthly existence and experience a sense of freedom beyond time and space.
The exhibition runs until Saturday 16 May 2026.
