The 2nd 'Lids Open Day' of the summer of 2026 closely follows on from our event at the Burrell Collection on Sunday 28th June.
On Saturday July 4th ( 10am - 4.30pm ) we will have rare access to play the beautiful 9ft 'Daneman' Concert Grand Piano in the Glasgow Room at the Mitchell Library. (near North St. Entrance).
This event is part of a summer of piano activities ( and three Lids Open Days in quick succession ) all thanks to #NationLottery Players and the £10,000 grant funding we have received from National Lottery Awards for All in celebration of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. We are definitely All In . . . and will also run another Lids Open Day at City Halls on Saturday July 18th, intended to be especially for children and young people, as well as having pianos installed at Riverside Museum and other locations still tbc.
Like the other LOD events this summer we may well organise some performances around lunchtime from 1-2pm. Lets see what happens.
You can see many videos from previous events on our Youtube channel and watch the full video of a previous Lids Open Day in 2017 on our Vimeo channel here: https://vimeo.com/channels/glasgowpianocity/215307725
This will be an informal event with no time slots to book - though, we are asking you to register your interest in attending ( and a rough time you intend to come along for your 10/12 min playing slot ) by emailing us at . . . [email protected]
Or . . . Just Turn Up and Play!
Our Lids Open Day events are always free to attend ~ though we invite participants to contribute to our facilitation costs if they can to help us continue to run these events. You can support our work via our website 'Contribute' page . . .
