Veteran journalist David Wallis will recount the extremes of his career, working for Jared Kushner at The New York Observer from 2013 - 2017, and then from 2017-2023 with Barbara Ehrenreich (author of Nickel and Dimed and Had I Known) at the Economic Hardship Reporting Project. Wallis will also discuss the recently published book that he co-edited, Going for Broke: Living on the Edge in the World’s Richest Country, which Kirkus called “a penetrating collection that is certain to challenge the readers’ views of those living in poverty.”Area resident David Wallis served from 2017-2023 as managing director of the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, an award-winning nonprofit newsroom founded by Barbara Ehrenreich. Previously, David was the opinion editor of the Forward and deputy editor of The New York Observer.
