About this Event
Have an adventure in the library after closing! Join us for an adults-only evening of engaging conversation, artistic expression and fun as we transform the library into an after hours social club. Before our main event, explore the stacks with a tasty drink in hand, groove to soft tunes, engage with Diwali art and receive beautiful complimentary henna if you are one of the first to arrive. Shern-Min Chow, an A.P. and Emmy‑winning journalist and Yale graduate, will discuss her debut novel If Not You… — inspired by true events — which follows a young girl who survives a devastating fire and rises from India’s slums to work at MD Anderson’s cancer research labs. The story spans three decades and two continents, exploring forbidden love, societal expectations, duty, and the transformative power of education.
