The City of Bedford will plant a commemorative Tulip Poplar tree at Wilson Park on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 10:00 am. The Tulip Poplar, which represents the State of Indiana as its official tree, was selected to symbolize strength, growth and our shared heritage. This meaningful dedication will serve as a lasting tribute to our nation's history and a reminder of Bedford's pride and patriotism.
We are also honored to welcome Mike Chaveas, Forest Supervisor with the Hoosier National Forest, which is celebrating its 90th Anniversary this year. Mr. Chavis will share remarks about the historic connection between trees and Lawrence County, as well as the importance of the Hoosier National Forest to our region and our state.
In the event of inclement weather, a rain date is established for Monday, June 8th at 10:00am.
