Liberty on Main Street

Gather with us in the heart of West Frankfort as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. This special ceremony will include a public reading of the Declaration, just as citizens gathered to hear its words in 1776, followed by a wreath-laying at our community’s war memorials in honor of the men and women who have defended the freedoms those words proclaimed. Join us as we reflect on our nation’s founding ideals, remember those who have served, and celebrate the enduring spirit of liberty that continues to unite Americans 250 years later.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident…” — and 250 years later, those words still deserve to be heard.
