About this Event

Uncover the Met’s hidden queer stories on this exclusive two-hour tour led by Professor Andrew Lear, a five-time Harvard teaching award winner and master storyteller.

Explore the homoerotic themes and coded symbols behind masterpieces from Picasso’s scandalous “Gertrude Stein” to Marsden Hartley’s tribute to his lost lover, along with the divine story of Antinous and other artworks long overlooked for their LGBTQ meanings.

For Lear’s peerless insights on just one of the works in the Met’s unrivaled collection, visit The Gay and Lesbian Review.

See the Met in a whole new light—rich with desire, identity, and history rarely told.
