Build Organizational Capacity through Effective Board GovernanceA seminar designed for board leaders and non-profit staff
Strong boards build strong organizations. Building Organizational Capacity through Effective Board Governance is a dynamic and practical seminar designed to equip nonprofit board members and executive leaders with the tools and knowledge necessary to elevate governance performance and organizational impact.
By participating in this training, participants will be able to:
- Clarify and differentiate the essential roles, responsibilities, and legal duties of a high-performing board member, as well as the dynamics of the board/chief executive partnership.
- Develop effective strategies for the identification, recruitment, and comprehensive orientation of new board members to strengthen board composition and sustainability.
- Optimize board effectiveness by understanding the strategic use of committees, fostering a positive board culture, and implementing best practices for ethical decision-making.
- Recognize and proactively address challenges related to executive transitions and potential "founders' syndrome" to ensure seamless leadership changes and sustained organizational health.

About the Speakers:

Scott and Tiffany Whaley are the owners of Grassroots Advisors and consult with small businesses and non-profit organizations. With years of experience with non-profit organizations - as staff, volunteers and board members - they are passionate about helping non-profit organizations stretch their resources responsibly by creating working boards and expanding their volunteer and partnership opportunities. Their areas of expertise include staff/board development, drafting policies/procedures and strategic planning. They reside in Kershaw, SC with their four children and a basset hound.
