ABOUT IDIA:
IDIA (Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access) started out as a student-run movement in 2010. The main goal of the NGO is to identify underprivileged students with an aptitude for law and train them for law entrance exams over 1-2 years.
ABOUT IDIA: CHENNAI CHAPTER:
Instituted in 2017 the IDIA Chennai Chapter is run by the students of the School of Excellence in Law The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University. The Chapter was founded on the principle that the first step towards achieving equality is ensuring equal opportunities in education. Education is a fundamental right and a transformative tool that shapes individual perspectives and societal dynamics.
The Chennai Chapter is committed to creating awareness and providing access to legal education among underprivileged students. In the past five years the Chennai Chapter has actively engaged with over 60 government schools across Tamil Nadu. During these visits our team has sensitized students about the numerous career opportunities available within the legal field. Our goal is to demystify the legal profession and make it an accessible career choice for students from diverse backgrounds. Currently the Chennai Chapter is focused on raising funds to support our trainees. These funds are essential for providing comprehensive training to students preparing for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
