About this Event
Lewisham is one of the worst performing inner London boroughs according to the 2024 Healthy Streets scorecard. Which parts of Lewisham have the worst air pollution? Are there traffic hotspots - dangerous crossings, unsafe routes for children, pedestrians or cyclists - that you'd like to talk to us about?
In this free workshop Climate Action Lewisham (CAL) is delighted to welcome two speakers Dorothy Stein (CAL member and lead on our Clean Air group) and Alex Raha (Lewisham Cyclists Co-ordinator and lead of Lewisham Family Cycling Library) to cover and discuss:
- pollution maps of Lewisham: how does pollution affect our health? where are the hot spots in Lewisham? what simple steps can we take primarily to protect ourselves?
- transport and traffic: where in Lewisham is particularly dangerous? How can we support an active travel strategy? What steps can we take as individuals to raise issues to the council?
- an ongoing case in Lewisham: the closure of Cold Blow Lane tunnel to traffic. What is the issue? How did residents raise their concerns? And did this lead to the current trialling of the tunnel closure?
After the workshop, we hope that attendees will leave feeling empowered that they do have a voice to raise concerns on pollution and traffic issues, and can take action to take things further.
