Whether you craft a puppet or help carry one of ours, we need you! Grab your friends, family members or co-workers and join us for the 3rd annual community celebration of creativity, Lewisburg’s Handmade Parade (formally the Polar Bear Plunge Parade) on
Saturday, February 8th, 2025 - 2pm - 2:30 pm
The Handmade Parade is an annual legendary spectacle of imagination featuring upcycled handmade puppets, instruments and most importantly, enthusiastic community revelers, to celebrate and usher in the epic Polar Bear Plunge. The Handmade Parade is FREE to attend and participate in!

The Lewisburg Arts Council (LAC) is the organizer of this event, working in tandem with the Lewisburg Neighborhoods and the Lewisburg Downtown Partnership as part of the Lewisburg Ice Festival. It is the LAC’s intention to help fuel and inspire local groups to make wild, wonderful puppets culminating in a public parade celebrating both community and creativity.
Workshops will be held throughout January to create large puppets using upcycled and used materials. In doing so, we breathe new life into what we already have, using creativity (and glue and paint) to create a puppet world of imagination. This year’s workshop puppets are inspired by the River and will feature a Giant Egret, crayfish, dragonflies, fish and trees. We will also be creating a bucket drum brigade. Rachel Martine has been selected as this year's featured artist. Not into workshops or can’t attend? That's ok - you can do your own thing!
Grab a group of your buddies, teammates, board members, co-workers and do your own thing! We encourage you to lean into your own creativity and get yourselves organized with your own costume/puppet ideas and join us for the Parade. Carrying banners or otherwise representing your group/organization in your puppets/costumes is permitted and encouraged. (This is an apolitical event. Please no organizing or promotion of political candidates, affiliates, or organizations.)
The Parade
Saturday, February 8th, 2025 - 2pm - 2:30pm
Parade revelers should assemble on the south corner of Market Street and Front Street (in front of La Brasserie Louis) at 1:45pm. Once assembled, revelers will take a direct path down Front Street to the Lewisburg Landing - the site of the Polar Bear Plunge.

Please be kind and keep your costumes respectful to all.
Well behaved pets are permitted, at owners liability, especially if in costume.
No hate speech, violence, or disorderly conduct of any kind. Anyone exhibiting this behavior will be asked to leave.
