About this Event
Leveling the Playing Field: Tackling Racial Bias in Sports
Sport reflects the broader struggles and biases of society, revealing both systemic issues and the promise of progress. In arenas where competition thrives, athletes are often subjected to racial abuse—ranging from hostile chants to digital harassment. These incidents not only affect individuals but also cast a shadow over the entire sports community. This event dives into the pervasive nature of racial abuse in sport across all levels, exploring the societal factors that drive such behavior. At the same time, we’ll highlight the potential for sport to be a tool for change—a means of overcoming bias, fostering solidarity, and building stronger, more inclusive communities. Our panel of experts will share their insights and personal experiences to help us better understand how we can collectively level the playing field and tackle racial abuse in sports and beyond.
The event will begin with a complimentary buffet lunch and networking opportunity, followed by a paneland an interactive Q&A session.
