Level 1 Improv Class

No script. No experience. No cost. Just pure fun!
Ever watched comedy performers make up a whole show on the spot and thought, "I wish I could do that, but I'd be way too terrified"?
Good news: Improv isn't about being a comedy genius—it's about listening, playing, and laughing. This July, step out of your comfort zone and into the spotlight with our Free Level 1 Improv Class Series, led by Mark Vicker, a graduate of The Second City Comedy School and current 97.9 radio show host.
Stop in for just one class, or attend all four classes, and you'll learn the foundational building blocks of unscripted comedy in a completely supportive, zero-judgment environment.
📅 Class Details
When: Every Thursday in July 2026 (July 2, 9, 16, & 23)
Time: Doors open at 5:00pm, class runs 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Where: The Annex, at The Opera House, 1136 Main St. Stevens Point, WI
Cost: 100% FREE
🚀 The Grand Finale: Student Showcase Show!
Put your new skills to the test! On the Thursday immediately following our final class (July 30, 2026), we will be hosting a live improv comedy show.
All students who participate in this class series will have the exclusive opportunity to jump on stage and perform in the showcase. It is entirely optional, highly encouraged, and a fantastic, supportive environment to show your friends and family what you've learned!
🎭 Who Is This For?
Absolutely everyone! Whether you want to eventually hop on a comedy stage, sharpen your professional public speaking skills, or just find a hilarious way to decompress after work, you are welcome here.
No prior theater, acting, or comedy experience required.
Open to adults of all ages
Come by yourself or grab a friend—you'll be making plenty of new ones in your first session.
✨ What to Expect
Through low-stress group games and collaborative exercises, we’ll explore:
The Power of "Yes, And...": The golden rule of improv that turns simple ideas into hilarious scenes.
Radical Active Listening: Learning to truly hear your scene partner instead of just waiting for your turn to speak.
Embracing the Unexpected: Shaking off perfectionism and learning to view "mistakes" as gifts.
"Do I have to be naturally funny?"Not at all! The secret of great improv is that you don't need to crack jokes or try to be witty. By simply being present and reacting honestly to your partners, the comedy happens all on its own.
🎟️ How to Join
These classes are completely free! While you can drop in for just a single session, we highly recommend attending the full series so you are ready to rock the stage at the July 30th improv showcase performance!
