Have you been in a valley? Do you feel stuck – or perhaps you have been going around the same mountain but not making much progress?Psalm 23 tells us we are to remember we will have times in the valley, but we aren’t supposed to stay there. The Passion Translation words it like this: “Lord, even when your path takes me through the valley of deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have! You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way.”
Inspired by the metaphor of hiking, this faith-based teaching invites participants to explore profound parallels between traversing the rugged trails of life and navigating the twists and turns of the spiritual battle in our minds. Brain science is now confirming all that God’s Word has told us about renewing our minds, as neuroplasticity is described as the ability for our thoughts to form new paths.
So, just as when a new path is created on a hiking trail by clearing away the brush and removing obstacles, we create new pathways in our brains by removing the lies and “brush” that entangles us. We then can focus on God’s truths and let these new thought patterns blaze a better trail.
We have the best hiking guide available, the Holy Spirit, who we can trust will show us the path we need to take to get out of our valleys and take us up higher where we can better “see” His plans for us to reach the mountaintop.
