Welcome to the "Let's Get Knitting! Welcome to the world of knitting: Beginner workshop" by Amma Knitwear! Are you ready to deep dive into the world of knitting? Join us at Mens & Kinders for a fun and interactive knitting workshop.

Welcome to the world of knitting! To start your journey, you will be guided by two, experienced Amma Knitwear knitters who have carefully crafted the evening so that you immediately get all the information and skills you need to kickstart your journey in the most enjoyable way. Whether you've tried knitting before and quit out of frustration, or it's your first time picking up a pair of needles, we're here to guide you along your personal journey to make it the most fun experience for you.

Some topics we will cover in the workshop are:

• Knitting terminology
• Yarn types / fibers
• Types of knitting needles and styles of knitting
• Reading a pattern (in English)
• Making a swatch (getting the right knitting tension for the 'perfect' stitch)
• Resources which can support you along the way (online & in-person)
• Getting started with knitting your project!

We strive to have at least two workshop leaders in attendance at all times so that we can provide you with maximum support during your experience. If following the workshop you need additional help, just ask! We have possiblities for you.

What we'll be knitting depends on the season.

From September - March:

• Amma Scarf (beginner +)
• Amma Beanie (beginner ++)
  From April - September:
• Amma Cleaning Cloths (beginner +)

Pattern Description:

Amma Scarf (knitting kit including yarn and pattern €34.95)

With this edition you will learn how to create the Amma Scarf which includes the knit stitch, purl stitch, and knit 1 below (k1b) stitch. We will start by making a mini scarf with `1 skein of yarn to practice the pattern on a smaller scale, and then begin knitting the full (adult) version. Bring your own yarn (BYOY) if it meets the required yarn specifications, or buy a knitting kit (pattern & DROPS Snow yarn - 100% wool) from Amma in advance / at the workshop itself for a special 'attendee rate' . Amma Cleaning Cloths (knitting kit including yarn and pattern €10)

These washcloths are a great way to get started with knitting. You can quickly experience the gratification of knitting since the gamrent is knit on relatively larger needles and are finished quite quickly. You even get included with your Amma Knitting kit a delicious smelling handmade soap made by a local Zwolle soap artisan. In this pattern you will learn the knit stitch, purl stitch, and how to switch regularly between the two to create a structured effect. Bring your own yarn (BYOY) if it meets the required yarn specifications, or buy a knitting kit (Amma Cleaning Cloths pattern and DROPS Paris yarn - 100% cotton) from Amma Knitwear in advance / at the workshop itself for a special 'attendee rate'.
