LEST WE FORGET...Juneteenth Celebration at JPEG Photo Gallery
About this Event
LEST WE FORGET...
On Juneteenth, you are invited to experience a visual tribute honoring the 17 Africans enslaved by the Cooper family in Camden, New Jersey, during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Through portraiture, historical research, and visual storytelling, Erik James Montgomery's Lest We Forget... seeks to restore humanity, memory, and visibility to those whose stories have too often been overlooked.
Join us on Friday, June 19, for the exhibition opening and a special artist talk featuring educator, journalist, and author Rann Miller, who presents his latest book, Africa: Center of the World. Following the presentation, Miller and Montgomery will discuss why preserving history, culture, and truth remains essential in today's often-conflicting social and political climate.
