Lenten Rose: Choral Concert
Schedule
Sun Mar 22 2026 at 03:00 pm to 04:30 pm
UTC-04:00Location
St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church (McLean, VA) | Mclean, VA
The concert is named after the Lenten Rose (helleborus orientalis). This name was chosen to reflect the program's dual themes: the Lenten season - represented by the Lamentations and penitential motets by English masters Robert White, William Byrd, Orlando Gibbons and Henry Purcell; and the arrival of Spring - commemorated with art songs and chansons by Johannes Brahms and Claude LeJeune, and with the stunningly sensual poetry of the Song of Solomon, set to music by Jacob Clemens and Robert White.
No tickets required, but a free will offering is suggested.
Pieces include:
Robert White - Lamentations à 5
Jacobus Clemens non Papa - Ego Flos Campi à 7
William Byrd - Ne Irascaris / Civitas Sancti Tui
Henry Purcell - Save Me, O God
Johannes Brahms - Vier Lieder aus dem Jungbrunnen
Claude LeJeune - Les Printemps (excerpts)
and more!
