Lenses & Projection Art
About this Event
This hands-on workshop explores how simple lenses shape and manipulate light to create focused images and projections. Participants will learn the basics of how lenses work and experiment with projecting and distorting images in space. We’ll cover how to find a lens’s focal length using accessible, low-tech methods. Using that knowledge, attendees will build simple optical devices for projection and viewing. The session emphasizes experimentation, giving participants a practical understanding of lenses as both technical tools and creative materials. Participants limited to 10.
RAY CHANG explores the intersections of movement, mechanics, and perception through kinetic sculpture and experimental animation. His interdisciplinary practice merges analog techniques with contemporary visual culture, creating works that play with the viewer's understanding of time, space, and the interplay between shadow and light.
