About this Event
In the mid-1840s, the Cayuse people, devastated by disease brought by settlers, were blamed for the deaths of missionaries at the Whitman Mission. Five men were wrongfully convicted and hanged, their burial site remains unknown. This panel, featuring Joe Baker, Professor Michael Moffitt, and Bobbie Conner, will explore the ongoing search for justice and reconciliation, addressing the importance of truth-seeking processes and repatriation. As we reflect on this history, we also consider its relevance to the Lenape in NYC.
Be part of this vital conversation and witness how diverse perspectives contribute to an ongoing journey of understanding and resolution.
