LEMON BUCKET ORKESTRA
Lemon Bucket Orkestra are Toronto's original Slavic-Balkan-Klezmer-Party-Punks. The multi-award-winning ensemble has been heralded as a groundbreaking, genre-bending phenomenon by media and fans alike, and over the past 14 years they have performed all over the world from WOMAD in England and New Zealand and Pohoda in Slovakia, to Festival D’Été in Québec City, and Luminato in Toronto. The Guardian proclaimed that their performances are " gorgeously sung and passionately played ".
Equal parts exhilarating precision and reckless abandon, LBO’s live shows are a truly immersive experience ranging from the ecstatic to the cathartic and all points in between. Now they have been weaving that unique blend of energy and emotion onto their upcoming album Cuckoo . Released in May 2024, the new record combines powerful Ukrainian polyphony, driving Balkan rhythms, and modern Western musical elements. This mixture of Eastern Europe and the America's is further elevated with the special feature of Macedonian master trumpeter Nizo Alimov, formerly of Kocani Orkestar.
Along with the worldwide release of the new album, LBO will also be premiering a new video for their title track, Cuckoo. Filmed on Toronto’s iconic Ward's Island, it captures the band in their natural element - taking the viewer through a boisterous, bright, and impassioned journey from a party at the beach to the Balkans. Get on your feet and immerse yourself in this sonic juggernaut if you can. To quote the Winnipeg Free Press, the experience will be: "Amazing, frenetic, gloriously anarchic and ultimately joyous!”

CHEREMOSH
Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Ensemble captivates audiences with its rich repertoire of traditional folk dances representing diverse regions of Ukraine. From the Carpathian Mountains to central Ukraine and its fertile steppes, each region boasts unique styles, authentic costumes, and its own music. The dancers’ “Hopak” is an exhilarating, crowd-pleasing finale to each performance.
As part of the Ukrainian American Youth Association, Cheremosh is dedicated to preserving Ukrainian culture through dance and cultural enrichment activities. Most of its 60 dancers, who range in age from four to 24, are children or grandchildren of Ukrainian immigrants and several dancers themselves were born in Ukraine. The group performs throughout the Twin Cities at annual events including the Festival of Nations in Saint Paul and several held each year at the Ukrainian American Community Center. It has also performed at the Minnesota State Fair, Lake Harriet Band Shell, and frequently dances by invitation at various public and private events.
