Leighton House Museum 'Arab Hall' and Exhibition 'The View From Here' Tour

Getting to the Museum: You can choose to either meet us at 12.30pm at Kensington Central Library (Ground Floor Main Entrance) and walk with us to the museum, or meet us outside the museum entrance at 1pm (prompt!).

The 'Arab Hall'

Built as an extension to the house, the Arab Hall is for many the centre piece of this unique artist home. The design reflects Leighton’s personal fascination with the Middle East which he often visited on his travels, and he collected and purchased many of the tiles himself on his trips to Turkey, Egypt and Syria.

'The View From Here' Exhibition

This new exhibition at Leighton House showcases emerging creative voices from the MENA region exploring heritage, memory and identity through assemblage and collage. The View from Here invites the viewer to reflect on how the meaning of art from the MENA diaspora shifts when created or displayed outside its place of origin, and how context shapes both what is seen and how it is seen.
