FAQs

Do I have to register to come? Yes, you MUST register to come as our school break camps have a limited number of spots.

How do I register my child? Register via our Eventbrite page (if you're reading this, then you're in the right spot) or by calling (509) 919-4707 between 12 and 7 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Registering by phone may take some time, so please make sure you have at least a half-hour to spare!

What do I need to bring to this school break camp? We provide all materials, tools, and supplies your child will need, unless otherwise specified for the camp.

Can my child bring their own snacks? Yes. While Spark Central will provide one snack an hour at our programs, you are welcome to send your child with their own snacks, which they can enjoy at any point. Children are not allowed to share their snacks during our programs.

Can I register my child if they are not in the age group specified for this school break camp? No. Please only register your child if they are in the age range or grades listed in the program description. We cannot make exceptions, even for children who are academically advanced or mature for their age.

Can I register my child if I am not certain they can attend? No — please only register if you know your child will be there. We often have a full waitlist for our school break camps, and every vacant seat is a missed learning opportunity for another family. If you already know you have a scheduling conflict, please do not register!

If your child becomes ill unexpectedly after registering or if a conflict comes up that you did not anticipate, please contact [email protected].

As a parent, can I stay at this school break camp with my child? No. Please help your child get settled and then leave them with our well-trained staff and volunteers. The exception is ages 0 to 5, when we usually ask that parents accompany their toddlers.

Your registration provides us with your contact information and we will contact you if there is a problem of any kind. Please feel welcome to send additional emergency contacts for your child to [email protected].

If you want to participate in the school break camp with your child, we suggest you sign up as a volunteer. After emailing your interest to [email protected], you will be invited to a volunteer orientation. This process can take a few weeks, so please plan accordingly.

If you would rather attend a program with your child, please choose from one of the many drop-in programs and family events we offer at Spark Central.

Can I sign up my child for a school break camp if they don't want to come? No. Spark Central playshops have two rules: (1) Everyone wants to be here; (2) Everyone is compassionate toward others. School break camps are not a spot to drop off a child who does not want to participate. If a child wants to leave, is defiant, or harms others, you will be called to pick up your child.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Behind Spark Central, parking costs $2 or less using the Reef app. Free 90-minute street parking is also available on West Summit Parkway. City bus lines 4, 21, 22, and 23 stop at the intersection of Summit and Monroe, which is just a few blocks from our space.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions or if I have to cancel? Contact [email protected] with questions or cancellations. Please let us know as soon as possible if you can't make it, as school break camps often have waiting lists and we want to give every child who wants to be here a chance to participate if possible.

Terms of Membership

Your membership allows you to borrow Spark Central materials, use Spark Central technology, or use Spark’s available services. Memberships are not transferable to any other person. Failure to follow the rules or regulations of membership or use of Spark Central’s space may result in suspension of membership. Damage or loss of materials totaling $5.00 or more per responsible party (responsibility for minors residing with adult or guardian) may cause the inactivation of borrowing privileges. Opting into membership opts you into receiving emails from Spark Central, which members may choose to opt-out of once enrolled.

COMPUTER USE:

Spark computing devices are not to be removed from Spark Central or taken into bathrooms.

Computing devices may be borrowed for up to two hours and then must be returned.

No illegal conduct (harassment, libeling or slandering, destruction or damage, disruption or unauthorized monitoring or interference, unauthorized copying of copyrighted material, or viewing or downloading of pornography) is allowed on Spark Central computers or devices.

Spark Central staff and volunteers have the authority and duty to enforce equitable and fair access to all computing facilities at Spark.

Spark Central staff and volunteers are generally trained computer instructors. Patrons are responsible for their own use of public access computers.

Parents are responsible for monitoring and guiding use of station computers for their children.

Patrons are only authorized to access the “Spark Central” patron login and are prohibited from downloading software or other programs onto our computers. Flash drives are available.

Each day, printing your first five black-and-white pages are free, and there are charges for additional pages or color pages. See sign at help desk for rates.

UNATTENDED CHILDREN:

Spark Central holds parents / guardians, or care providers responsible for the safety and security of their children while visiting. Neither Spark Central nor the programming offered by Spark Central for children is intended to take the place of care and supervision by a parent or caregiver. Spark Central allows children over the age of 8 to be in the center without parent supervision. We ask that children 7 years or younger be accompanied by a parent or caregiver over the age of 13. If an unaccompanied child is in need of assistance that the Spark Central staff and volunteers do not or cannot provide, is disruptive to other patrons, or is at-risk, a staff member will first contact the child’s parents. If the staff member cannot reach the child’s parents they will then contact the necessary authorities.

By signing, you consent to the reproduction and use, royalty-free, of motion picture films, videotapes, recorded sounds, and still photographs of yourself or other adults and youth listed on this form by Spark Central for purposes including, but not limited to, promotional materials, display, advertising, social media, and exhibits.
