Description: This specialized play therapy training focuses on using LEGO® play as a therapeutic tool for working with adults. LEGO® play therapy is a unique and innovative approach that allows individuals to express themselves, process emotions, and work through challenges in a nonverbal, creative, and engaging way. This training is designed for therapists, counselors, and mental health professionals who are interested in integrating LEGO® play into their adult therapy practices.
Objectives:
Training Objectives:

  1. Understand the Theoretical Basis for LEGO® Play Therapy with Adults
    Gain a deep understanding of the principles behind using LEGO® play as a therapeutic tool for adults, including how it helps foster creativity, self-expression, and problem-solving in a nonverbal way.
  2. Identify Key Benefits of LEGO® Play Therapy for Adult Clients
    Learn how LEGO® play can benefit adult clients by helping them externalize emotions, reduce stress, work through trauma, and gain new perspectives on their problems in a playful yet meaningful manner.
  3. Learn 3 Techniques for Facilitating LEGO® Play in Therapy
    Develop the skills needed to facilitate individual and group LEGO® therapy sessions with adults, including guiding clients in building meaningful representations, exploring their creations, and using the play to promote reflection and insight.
  4. Explore How to Use LEGO® to Address Specific Adult Issues
    Explore practical strategies for using LEGO® play to work with a range of adult issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, and personal growth. Learn how to tailor LEGO® interventions to meet clients’ individual needs and therapeutic goals.

**By registering for this series you acknowledge that your name and image of your face may be displayed and seen by other professionals participating in this training, and recorded for viewing for non-contact hours by other participants. For full credit, you will have to leave your camera on the entire time.**


What to have available:
  • a Lego Base Board (any brand that fits Legos)
  • A handful of Legos (Maybe 30-40 - any brand)
  • a playful attitude and eagerness to learnQuestions about the Webinar:

1) What format will you be using?

We will use Zoom for this webinar. The invitation will be send a few days before with all the details. This workshop meets APT’s definition of Live Webinar.


2) What do I need access it?

You will need a computer, preferably with an ethernet land line to provide the best connection and a webcam. You may ask others in your household to disconnect during the webinar so you have the best chance of being "virtually" present. Having a base board and a handful of Legos is highly encouraged.


4) I can't make that the time/date. Will this be available again or put online?

Yes, we will be putting the webinar up online for mental health professionals to purchase afterwards but this for live participants only.


5) How do I get my certificate?

A post-test, evaluation and certificate will be send to you after the webinar is over.

About the Trainers:



Bea Burchill, LSCSW, RPT

Bea Burchill, LSCSW, Registered Play Therapist™ received her BSW from Wichita State University and then went on to receive her MSW from the University of Kansas. Bea has many years of experience as a child therapist working with children aged 2-20 who have experienced childhood trauma. She has worked in domestic violence agencies as well as community mental health. Currently she is an elementary school social worker. Bea is a big nerd and loves all things Harry Potter, Superheroes and pop culture. She is passionate about play and fostering moments of joy and connection. She loves spending time outside and reading picture books with her toddler, husband and family.

Ragan Snyder-Smith, LSCSW RPT-S, M.Ed.

Ragan is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™ . She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Wichita State University. She also has a Master’s in Education from Newman University. She is certified Trauma-Focused CBT and EMDR (through EMDRIA). She also provides training for mental health clinicians and supervision for those seeking licensure as a LSCSW in the state of Kansas and nationally as a Registered Play Therapist.

Ragan has been a social worker for 20 years and worked in foster care, adoptions, drug and alcohol counseling, school social work, medical and psychiatric social work, and is currently in private practice.
