Pt. Partho Sarathi (senior disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar) on sarod, Vidushi Mita Nag (daughter of Pt. Manilal Nag and torchbearer of Bishnupur Gharana) on sitar, and Pt. Subhen Chatterjee (Grammy-nominated and Guinness World Record holder) on tabla.

Artist Biographies
Pt. Partho Sarathy:
Pt. Partho Sarothy is one of the finest Indian classical musicians of our time. His music embodies the true heritage of Hindustani Raag-dari music. His virtuosity on the sarod makes his exploration of ragas an exercise in harmony, tranquility, and his serious meditative approach makes his music soar to unscaled heights of fulfillment.
Partho ji started his musical training under his father late Sudhamoy Chowdhury, who was a disciple of Pt. Radhikamohan Moitra, the great sarod maestro. He then took lessons for nearly a decade from Ustad Dhyanesh Khan, son and disciple of the legendary sarod player, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. Since 1980 Partho has been under the direct guidance of Bharat Ratna, Pt. Ravi Shankar, perhaps India’s greatest musician. With this long and very illustrious training under these great gurus coupled with an inherent protean creative sensibility, Partho ji's music is truly a symphony in serenity.
Born in the 60s, Partho ji is based in Calcutta, the cultural mecca of India. He has been performing for last 40 years in India and internationally as a soloist and also with his great guru, Pt. Ravi Shankar, as an accompanist in prestigious venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Royal Elizabeth Hall in London, Kremlin in Moscow USSR, Carnegie Hall in USA, and many more around the world.
In India he has performed at all major music festivals: Doverlane and S.R.A. festivals in Calcutta, Savai Gandharva Festival in Pune, Img Fest in Mumbai, Shankarlal Festival and Vishnu Digambar Jayanti in Delhi, Ustad Allauddin Music Sangeet Samaroho in Maihar, Tansen Sangeet Samaroho in Gwalior, and the list goes on.
Vidushi Mita Nag:
Vidushi Mita Nag, daughter of veteran sitarist, Pt. Manilal Nag, and granddaughter of Sangeet Acharya Pt. Gokul Nag, belongs to the Bishnupur Gharana of Bengal, a school of music nearly 300 years old. In terms of lineage, Mita ji is the sixth generation sitar player in her family, the tradition having begun with her fore fathers. It was with her grandfather, who had become the Guru of a noted zamindar family of Uttarpara, a Northern suburb town of Kolkata, that the music of the Nag family came into limelight. With her illustrious father Manilal, the sitar tradition of Vishnupur gharana was made known to the world.
This Gharana follows the Dhrupad style of song and the instrumental recital too, imitates the dhrupad style in the Alap phase.
Mita ji was initiated into music at the tender age of 4 . She had shown rather early gestures of her love for music. Toddling with her tiny sitar, Mita ji began her early training under the guidance of her mother, who was also a disciple of Pt. Gokul Nag. Her grandfather’s encouragement and instructions through singing had much influence on her early reception of music, most noticeably, associating the instrument with song. Her tutelage under her father started at the age of 6.
Mita appeared for her debut performance at the age of 10 years, the year 1979 being observed as the International Year of the Child. The same year, she won the Junior National Talent Search Award of the Government of India.
Mita ji has performed in a number of concerts, solo as well as duet recitals with her father in major cities of India and in many cities of the US, Canada, Japan, and Europe. She was awarded the Junior Fellowship Award by the Human Resource Development (Government of India) for her research project on Bishnupur Gharana.
Mita ji has founded the Gokul Nag Memorial Foundation, a trust for the promotion of Indian Classical Music, in the fond memory of her grandfather.
Mita ji is a Masters in English Literature and an M.Phil. in English from the University of Kolkata.
Pt. Subhen Chatterjee:
Pt. Subhen Chatterjee is amongst the best-known tabla players of India today. Basing his style of playing on Lucknow Gharana or the school of tabla playing which he has learnt from his illustrious guru, tabla legend, Pt. Swapan Chowdhuri. He has incorporated many other interesting aspects and beauties of other schools of tabla and thus has developed a distinctively unique style.
A Grammy-nominated artist, Subhen ji, has been touring and performing for nearly 40 years in all parts of the world. He has the rare distinction of accompanying many great artists of Hindustani Classical Music. He is also considered one of the leaders of the World Music movement in India with his band Karma, which he formed way back in 1985. He is also a regular performer in WOMAD (World Organization of Music and Dance) formed by ace guitarist Peter Gabriel. He has also been conferred with many awards such as Jadu Bhatta Award and the most coveted Sangeet Samman Award in 2020 by the State Govt of West Bengal.
His album Artistry was nominated for Grammys in 2002 and his name was included in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2012 when he composed and performed in Jorhat (State of Assam, India) a single piece non-stop for 55 minutes with 315 Musicians on the stage.
