Leffler Leather 5-day Shoemaking Intensive Workshop
About this Event
Join us for 5 days full of leather, tools, glue and nails, grubby hands and full imaginations!
During this workshop you will design and make a pair of made-to-measure shoes or boots. Barefoot shoes or boots with a wide toe box are available.
You'll be selecting leather from the incredible range available in the Leffler Leather warehouse. Then, with expert guidance from your tutor Lou, you'll learn the core techniques of shoemaking, including design, cutting, stitching, lasting uppers, attaching soles and building heels.
You'll leave with not only a unique pair of handmade shoes, but also the confidence and skills to continue in your own time … Shoemaking kits and supplies (including lasts!) are available from Leffler Leather.
Choose from the following style options:
- DERBY
- OXFORD
- BOXING BOOT
- ROPER BOOT
- CHUKKA
- FITTED BOOT (with zip)
- CLASSIC MOC TOE BOOTS
To discuss your design, please email us. We’d love to hear from you. You can check out Lou’s Instagram to see examples of student work.
Beginners are welcome. No experience is necessary, we’ll be there to guide you through the process.
These are made to measure shoes and we can accommodate both narrow and wide feet, and orthotics.
Max boot height 18cm and max heel height 2.5cm.
Classes are held 9-4pm. We may finish later on day 5. Refreshments are provided - if you don't want to bring your own lunch, choose the lunch add-on at checkout and we'll fetch you a delicious fresh banh mi.
Classes are limited to x2 students.
Please email us if you would like to request a custom workshop date.
Please note: This class involves the cutting of thick leathers using craft knives, hammering and glueing. (If you're interested in a gentler shoemaking experience, try the 1-day Sneaker workshop).
