🧠 Lecture: "The Unsung Heroes of Classical Music"

🎤 Speaker: Prof. Delvyn Case

Roll over, Beethoven! Despite what you might think, the history of classical music is full of a diverse, trailblazing group of composers whose music still inspires audiences today. From a visionary medieval nun who transformed church music to the “Black Mozart” who wowed Colonial-era audiences on both sides of the Atlantic, you’ll meet some of the remarkable, but often overlooked, figures who helped shape the sound of classical music.

In this engaging lecture, Prof. Delvyn Case will introduce you to these unsung heroes and the groundbreaking works they created, revealing stories that will change how you hear and think about classical music forever.

Delvyn Case is Professor of Music at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, where he conducts the Great Woods Symphony Orchestra and teaches music history and theory. His compositions have been performed by over 100 orchestras worldwide, including the Boston Pops, as well as by numerous Grammy-winning artists.
