The dark web—a term thrown around often but rarely understood. What is it, really? In this lecture, Professor Melissa Chodziutko will explore the true nature of the dark web, what can be found there, and how this hidden corner of the internet operates differently from what we’re used to. From cybersecurity risks to ethical dilemmas, this talk will uncover the realities behind one of the most mysterious parts of the digital world.
Melissa Chodziutko is a cybersecurity expert with degrees in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Games & Emerging Media from Marist College. She holds a Master’s in Cybersecurity from Syracuse University, where her research focused on ethics in biometrics, machine learning, and data privacy. A former IBMer, she worked extensively on IBM Z’s cryptography systems and has been featured on IBM’s social media. She has also contributed to the gaming industry, publishing several titles and working across all aspects of game development. Her research interests include cybersecurity law, AI ethics, and large-scale data breaches.
