🧠Lecture: "The Criminal Justice System and Mental Illness, Examined"
🎤 Speaker: Researcher, Christina Yocca
Join us for an eye-opening evening as Research Analyst Christina Yocca examines how our criminal justice system responds to individuals living with mental illness. Grounded in a single, in-depth case study, this lecture moves beyond statistics to illuminate the human realities behind policy decisions and courtroom outcomes.
Christina will trace one person’s journey through the justice system, revealing where behavioral health needs are recognized, overlooked, or mishandled. Along the way, she will highlight the structural barriers that justice-involved individuals with mental health disorders face—and the practical reforms that data and lived experience suggest are both necessary and possible.
Beginning her career as a Social Worker and now serving as a Research Analyst for the Cook County Court System, Christina brings a rare blend of clinical insight and policy expertise. She holds a Master’s in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, specializing in the intersection of mental health and the law.
Come for a drink, meaningful conversation, and a deeper understanding of how we can build a more humane and effective justice system. Get a drink, connect, and learn at Lectures on Tap! 🙌
