Dr. Hemmis, professor of history at Texas A&M University–Central Texas, will explore society along America’s early borderlands during the Revolutionary era. Connecting the stories of George Morgan, the Willing Expedition, and Bernardo de Gálvez, he will examine examples of backcountry diplomacy that are frequently overlooked in the broader history of the American War for Independence.
This three-part lecture series is in conjunction with America 250 and features respected scholars and community members, the series will explore the fight for civil rights in South Texas, unlikely heroes of the American Revolution, and Jewish immigration to America.
