About the speaker: Dr. Remillard received his PhD from the University of New Hampshire. He has taught at Providence College, Stonehill College, UNH, Regis College, and MassBay Community College. His current research includes a forthcoming article in the Journal of the Early Republic that shows how veterans of color used federal pension applications to declare their right to American citizenship and their sense of belonging in the nation they helped create. His forthcoming book project, Friends, Brothers, and Citizens: The Revolutionary War Patriots of Color who Shaped the Early Republic, provides a life story of this generational cohort of Patriots of color, their families, and the lives they created after the conclusion of the War of Independence.
