ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Veronica Cassone McGowan is an ecologist and learning scientist. She is the director of the UW Bothell Collaborative for Socio-Ecological Engagement at the Environmental Education and Research Center at St. Edward State Park and concurrently a senior research scientist at the Goodlad Institute for Educational Renewal. Her research situates science and engineering-related phenomena within larger socioecological and sociotechnical systems, with a focus on how patterns of decision-making can be used to support socio-ecological thriving for all. Her projects also focus on centering racial justice and gender equity as a part of STEM teaching and learning across K–16 and professional learning contexts.
