Join us for an enlightening lecture that discusses the history of Western New York and the Senecas, presented by Melissa Parker Leonard, Seneca, educator and advocate.
In 1810, the Ogden Land Company acquired the rights to four Seneca reservations in New York State, igniting a land struggle that would endure for decades. The Senecas living in Buffalo during the early nineteenth century faced unprecedented challenges that tested their resilience, continuing long after the Buffalo Creek Treaty of 1842. This story lays the foundation for the Senecas’ enduring legacy in shaping modern-day Western New York.
This event is free and open to the public.
