Julia Stringfellow, Professor and University Archivist at Central Washington University, will speak on “Impactful Women and Their Contributions in Ellensburg History” on Tuesday, October 15th, at 6pm, at the Museum. The event is free, open to the public, and refreshments will be served. Please note, however, in-person seating is limited and the presentation will available virtually (via Zoom) and recorded. *About the Program:
Julia Stringfellow, Professor and University Archivist at Central Washington University, will share her research from a Sabbatical she took in 2023 that focused on Ellensburg and Central Washington University impactful women and their contributions. Women discussed in this lecture include the “mother of Ellensburg,” the wife of the first Ellensburg mayor, the first African American female minister of Ellensburg, and the namesake of Hebeler Hall at CWU that promoted active education and learning of children in Ellensburg and nationwide.
*About Julia Stringfellow:
Julia Stringfellow has served as Professor and University Archivist at Central Washington University since 2015. She served as department chair of the library faculty from 2015-2020. Prior to coming to CWU, Stringfellow was an archivist/librarian at Boise State University. She holds a master's degree in library and information science and a master's degree in history from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She became a Certified Archivist (C.A.) in 2011. Her favorite location in Ellensburg is the Local History Room at the Ellensburg Public Library. In addition to researching local history, she also enjoys serving as a tour guide for the Kittitas County Historical Museum’s pub crawl tours.
