About this Event

Join Lore and Angel City Press for a conversation celebrating Leave It for the Children: A Visual History of the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra by Samuel Lamontagne and Darol Olu Kae.

Through archival images, ephemera, and reflections, the book explores more than sixty years of the legendary community music ensemble formed in Los Angeles by Horace Tapscott. It traces the Arkestra’s enduring legacy of Black music, community, and collective practice.

Authors Samuel Lamontagne and Darol Olu Kae will be joined by contributor Joshua Myers for a conversation moderated by Walela Nehanda.

Come together with us to celebrate this essential history and the generations of artists and community members who continue to carry it forward.
