Learning to Look | Cubism
During the first decade of the 20th Century, Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque created a new form of visual art which would rapidly ignite and propel Modernism for the next two decades. Picasso and Braque, the developers of Cubism building on the late work of Paul Cezanne brought recent developments in science to the question of how do we see and broke the 500 year dominance of two point perspective. Even as many artists were adopting Analytic Cubism, its two inventors were into something new, Synthetic Cubism which asked a new question, ‘how do we know’?
