About this Event
LEARNING OUT LOUD: Oracy Project closing conference 2024
Welcome to the oracy closing conference. Oracy education is the responsibility of every school and teacher, and it is the entitlement of every child. Oracy describes the knowledge, skills and dispositions to use spoken language effectively in school and for participating in society. By teaching students to become more effective speakers and listeners, we empower them to better understand themselves, each other and the world around them.
Thanks to the generous support of Dr Mark Irwin and Mr Ross Ermidis, the South Australian Department for Education and Education Futures (University of South Australia) are developing a world-leading program of oracy education and research to support oracy education in South Australian schools.
This conference will bring together leading oracy experts from across Australia, including keynote speakers Dr Bronwyn Parkin and Ms Barbara Fitzgerald, and teachers from South Australian schools to share findings from this work and explore strategies for helping our young people to speak fluently and powerfully.
