About this Event
Make a New Year’s resolution to reduce your contribution to landfills! Join us for this class creating sustainable options to replace/reduce paper towels, plastic wrap, dryer sheets, plastic/paper bags, cotton pads/balls, paper napkins, latex balloons and even toilet paper if you are so inclined. These projects are fun, easy to make, and can last throughout the year(s). Patterns, instructions and most fabrics will be provided with the class.
This is a BEGINNER level sewing class, so do not worry if you are just starting. If you are a seasoned sewist, you’ll have fun learning a few new tricks.
Items needed:
- Sewing Machine that does both a straight stitch, zigzag stitch, and decorative stitches (optional). Don’t have a machine? Don’t worry! When signing up for the class, please select “I Need to Borrow a Machine” and we will have one set up for you.
- One old T-shirt ready to be upcycled (sizes Med and Large are best)
- If have an old towel, sheet, or flannel shirt/PJs bring it. There will also be supplies at the class.
- Neutral color sewing thread and a favorite color with 2 bobbins filled
- Sewing tools (scissors, clips or pins, stiletto or purple thang, seam ripper)
- Device to view patterns. In the spirit of this class, we’d like to avoid paper patterns.
Please don’t buy items to upcycle for this class. The whole point is to REDUCE. Extra supplies will be available for upcycle.
