Do you already know how to use a sewing machine? Are you keen to get started on a new sewing project but struggling to find some inspiration? Then this 1 day bag making workshop may be just for you!
Our one day workshop is the perfect class if you can already use a sewing machine, but want to learn how to follow a pattern to make a fabulous bag.
The Luskentyre Bag is a roomy shoulder bag which can comfortably hold all your essentials for a day at the beach, pool or for a picnic in the park! This exclusive guthrie & ghani pattern has been designed by Lauren and is her ideal bag for a summer (or winter!) adventure.
The Luskentyre Bag has a large interior which is fully lined and can be finished off with an optional drawstring closure. This nifty feature means the inside of the bag can expand, so it can hold a lot while still keeping all your contents secure.
The finished measurements of the bag are approximately 42cm (height) x 42cm (width) x 17cm (depth)
The course includes over £40 worth of goodies needed to make the bag including the pattern and notions. You'll also get access to Lauren's exclusive YouTube video to be used alongside the pattern instructions for future reference after the workshop.
Together with a tutor guiding you every step of the way to make the bag, this is an incredible value workshop!
The Luskyntyre bag has two external pockets which are perfect for quick access items, so you know exactly where your sunglasses are when the sun appears! An optional zip can be added to one of the pockets to help keep important items safe. The pockets sit between the straps, which are stitched directly onto the outer fabric, making them super strong. The base of the bag is also reinforced with specialist sturdy buckram interfacing, giving a defined base.
The Luskentyre bag is full of clever details and is a great showcase for bold fabrics.
Luskentyre, named after the beautiful beach on the Island of Harris in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland, was designed with the beach in mind but has plenty of other uses if you don't have a beach trip planned soon. It's perfect for a weekend getaway, for taking your projects to your sewing class, or simply for carrying your shopping!
You will learn:
How to sew an external patch pocket with an optional zip
How to make internal utility style pockets
How to assemble a fully lined bag with optional drawstring closure
How to stabilise the base of a bag with specialist sturdy buckram interfacing
How to use webbing to create bag handles
