About this Event
Newcastle Council are working with Walk Wheel Cycle Trust to offer FREE Learn to Ride sessions for children aged 5-12 in the May half term.
We aim to have most of the children cycling without stabilisers by the end of the sessions. If they don’t quite manage it within the sessions it is hoped that they can continue to practice the technique at home and should be ready to ride soon, and the staff member running the session will be able to advise you on this.
- Your child must bring a bike that is small enough for their feet to easily touch the ground.
- The bike must have good working front and rear brakes and well pumped up tyres.
- The bike must be in good condition as there is no time to do maintenance. You can find guidance on checking bikes on our website.
- Please REMOVE the stabilisers BEFORE bringing the bike to school.
- Your child MUST have a well fitting bike helmet.
- Your child should wear appropriate clothing, and bring water with them.
If any of this is a problem for you, please email [email protected] and we'll try to make arrangements for you. Staff running the sessions are first aid trained and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
