Program This is an excellent workshop taught by a wonderful teacher about all the ins and outs of propagating from cuttings, including when and how to take the cuttings themselves, how to plant them up and then how to take care of them until they are big enough to plant. This immediately useful workshop will have three parts;THE FIRST will be a talk by Master Gardener Tom Hamann, who will offer general information and important considerations for propagating from cuttings, including timing, what materials to use, what promotes growth, when to transplant, etc.
THE SECOND PART of the morning will consist of walking through the gardens to see what plants can be propagated from cuttings at this time of the year and they will demonstrate how to take a cutting (where on the plant to cut, etc.)
THE THIRD PART will consist of each participant “planting up” a cutting to take home and nurture to full growth. Learn by doing, the best way to learn!
Speaker: Master Gardener and former lead of the Pollinator Plant Sale at Falkirk, Tom Hamann loves to propagate and has propagated plants from seed and from cuttings for many Master Gardener sales as well as his own large property in West Marin. He is a wonderful teacher.
