An amazing class for artists that want to learn how to paint in the Renaissance Style. The class is taught by Artist Tom Humbert and is a three day class from 4pm to 8pm Friday and Saturday & Sunday from 9am to 5pm, August 21 to the 23rd 2026. Tom Humbert is an accomplished restoration and portrait artist that wants to pass on his knowledge of oil painting techniques used during the Renaissance, specifically under drawing, under painting, over painting and glazing. Your choice of subject you want to choose, there will be an assortment provided to choose from. Not all artists work at the same pace so you might be able to finish your art piece by the end of the third day, if not you can take your art and the knowledge you learned home and complete your painting or you can sign up for another class is you want more experience. You are welcome to bring your stuff into the gallery to finish on another day if you do not have the set up at home to complete the piece.

My name is Tom Humbert, and I am an accomplished
restoration and portrait artist. Over the years, I’ve restored more than a hundred paintings and
antique picture frames each one with its own history and personality. Enclosed are a few photos of
my restoration work and painting workshops.
While restoring several seventeenth-century paintings, I became fascinated by the methods and
pigments used by the old masters. After much research and experimentation, I was able to identify
the palettes and techniques that were likely used for portraiture during the Renaissance. I began
incorporating these discoveries into my own painting practice and eventually into workshops that I
taught out of my studio.
Now, I would like to share this knowledge more broadly. I’ve spent a lifetime learning from others,
experimenting, and rediscovering these time-honored methods and I don’t want that information to
fade away with me. My goal is to pass along what I’ve learned so that other artists can continue
these traditions and experience the same sense of discovery that has inspired me for so many years.
The workshop that I teach runs for three days, Friday 4pm-8pm and Saturday and Sunday , from 9 a.m. to 5p.m. . The workshop will be at:
