Enter into the wonderful world of sourdough by learning to make, maintain, and use your very own EASY sourdough starter!For years I was too intimidated to bother with sourdough. As a huge fan of the many benefits of fermented foods, sourdough was naturally something I always wanted to master. But information on sourdough felt overwhelming.
Well, forget all that complicated stuff! You really can successfully bake beautiful sourdough with your own healthy starter - that YOU can make - with no fancy flours, no expensive incubators, no kitchen witchery... who's with me?!
In this class, instructor & founder of Anvil Acre Farm Anne Morton (that's me!) will demonstrate how to bake an EASY sourdough bread loaf - which we will eat in class! - and an EASY sourdough starter using just two common household/pantry items. The class will also include an instructional handout for each student, to take home and use for baking loaves, using the "discard", and feeding/maintaining your starter for years, decades, and even generations to come.
The class fee is just $50 per person, and includes:
• Live & detailed demonstrations of the process for creating sourdough starter from scratch, as well as proper feeding AND hibernating processes
• In-depth presentation and discussion of why sourdough is so beneficial for our digestion, and how the science of yeast and flour work together to make delicious sourdough bakes
• Alternative flour options for successful starter, for those who wish to avoid all-purpose flour
• Handouts with all the information covered in class, complete with ingredients, step-by-step instructions, and recipes for putting sourdough 'discard' to good use
• Tastings of the bread we bake in class, along with several other delicious pairings - light afternoon "lunch" will be provided!
